SpringSource, the company behind Spring, announces that cumulative downloads for Spring have surpassed the three million milestone on SourceForge. Spring is an enterprise Java application infrastructure for building and running Java applications with more than five million estimated total downloads worldwide across all download sources.

Spring has become central to enterprise Java architectures with more than 64 percent of enterprises using Spring, according to a BEA dev2dev survey. Spring 2.5, the current release of the popular Spring Framework, is on track to become the most downloaded version of Spring ever. SpringSource counts more than 500,000 unique visitors to its web properties each month, comprising more than 31,000 organizations using Spring.

As the most widely used enterprise Java application platform worldwide, Spring is transforming enterprise Java. Most recently, the company announced that it has grown 250 percent year-over-year in quarterly bookings and has more than doubled revenue growth for the third consecutive year. In addition to revenue growth, the job requirements for Spring continue to soar, with Spring overtaking the EJB Java standard as an enterprise job requirement.
