Hifn CTO Russell Dietz to Speak at the Linley Group Tech Seminar

Hifn announces that Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Russell Dietz will be a featured speaker, presenting a new model for data center security, at the Linley Group Tech Seminar on Data Center Networking, September 16 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose.

Dietz will be featured during the session on Advanced Processors for Data-Center Applications, presenting the topic of "Data Security in the Next-Generation Data Center: Server and Storage Virtualization Changing the Security Landscape" and covering the evolving data security requirements to address the changes and convergence taking place in the next-generation data center. He will discuss how these security requirements are being driven by a collection of new technologies, such as server and storage virtualization, along with service-oriented architectures (SOA), utilizing "cloud-based" services in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, and delivering applications over WANs/Internet to laptops, desktops, phones, and other mobile devices. Dietz will explain how all of these new technologies "break" the past trust models and boundaries that were based on physical security, creating totally new security challenges and solutions that will be built on a new layered security model. The presentation will review the impact of these new technologies and show how MACsec, NAC/NAP, IPsec and other application security protocols, will be used to maintain trust.

Dietz brings more than 20 years of technology experience in the data communications, data management, security and embedded systems industries to his role as CTO at Hifn. He is an active member of the Internet and Engineering Task Force (IETF), IEEE, and Optical Internetworking Forum. Mr. Dietz has 10 patents issued and 10 pending to date, all in the field of networking, traffic analysis, application behavior and security.
