Verari Systems Announces the SB5168XL DataServer

Verari Systems announces the addition of the SB5168XL DataServer to its blade-based hybrid server and storage system family. The newly introduced architecture combines an Intel Xeon 3000 series processor and 10G Ethernet connectivity with the highest storage density available in a blade server. The combination of high capacity, blade-based storage with a general purpose server is a powerful enabler for a wide range of vertical markets where data and applications such as Web 2.0, Cloud and file system solutions need to be hosted on a single platform.

The SB5168XL DataServer is an addition to Verari's SB5255 DataServer. Customers making use of these solutions are empowered to take advantage of the power, cooling and floor space efficiencies of the Verari BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms with a general purpose storage server powered by Linux or Windows software.

Each Verari Systems SB5168XL DataServer consists of an SB1168XL server blade and up to two SB1056XL disk blades. The SB1168 server blade delivers cost-effective processing power via a single-socket, quad-core processor while the two SB1056XL disk blades hold 24 terabytes of RAID storage capacity. A single Verari BladeRack 2 X-Series platform can house up to 24 SB5168XL DataServers, delivering 576TBs of storage capacity and 96 processor cores in just two data center floor tiles.

With its high capacity disk blades directly attached to the server blade via high performance SAS channels and the availability of dual 10G Ethernet IO, the Verari SB5168XL DataServer is a great fit for enterprise computing, storage grid, business intelligence, data warehousing and video streaming, among other applications.

With rising demand for high-performance servers and storage in numerous market sectors including ISP/ASP, entertainment and financial services, Verari works closely with its customers to help develop "Green Data Centers" that deliver more energy-efficient processing performance and storage capacity.

Designed for the Verari Systems BladeRack 2 XL, the new SB5168XL DataServer reduces networking complexity and bottlenecks while delivering up to 50 percent savings in energy use and providing up to 77 percent better floor space utilization then traditional server and storage systems. The SB5168XL DataServer is a way for IT managers to contribute to business growth and the bottom line through the consolidation of server and storage infrastructures and unsurpassed energy efficiency.

The SB5168XL DataServer gives customers access to many unique capabilities such as the flexibility to run many commercial Linux distributions and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The open architecture of the SB5168XL makes it the ideal differentiated platform for the deployment of NAS and iSCSI open-source storage solutions.
