ADTRAN Announces New Array of NetVanta Switches

ADTRAN announces a new array of NetVanta switches designed to address a variety of SMB applications and provide a wealth of new benefits including higher density, Gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE), power conservation, wireless controller capabilities and a new limited lifetime warranty. These solutions are designed to address the need for value-driven, business-class solutions in the SMB market and to provide a means for SMBs to both upgrade and future-proof their Local Area Networks (LANs) as they embrace architectures such as Gigabit-to-the-Desktop and Voice over IP (VoIP).

ADTRAN's NetVanta family of voice and data networking solutions was designed specifically for the SMB market and uniquely addresses the needs of the value-driven SMB by providing a reliable, easy-to-use, business-class product. ADTRAN is introducing six new platforms to the NetVanta family of switching solutions. These solutions ease the transition to next-generation applications, while preparing SMB networks for future growth.

New features being introduced in these platforms include the ability to act as a Wi-Fi access controller, thus eliminating the need for a separate controller; intelligent power conservation, which enables PoE units to conserve energy by reducing power consumption; LLDP/LLDP MED, which simplify the deployment and troubleshooting of IP phones on a VoIP network; cable diagnostics which simplifies troubleshooting and repairs of the Ethernet cable plant/infrastructure; and a limited lifetime warranty.

The new platforms include:
- The NetVanta 1534 PoE - This is a managed, 26-port, Layer 2 Gigabit PoE switch. This platform is suited for higher-bandwidth applications and Gigabit-to-the-desktop deployments and supports both 802.3af and legacy PoE. It features CompactFlash and expandable RAM for easy configuration and backup.
- The NetVanta 1534 - This model offers the same standard features as the NetVanta 1534 PoE, without PoE support.
- The NetVanta 1238 PoE - This platform brings higher port density to the NetVanta switch family. This 48-port, Layer 2 switch supports both 802.3af and legacy PoE making it perfect for VoIP and Wi-Fi applications. It provides four Gigabit uplink ports and allows SMB and branch office customers to future-proof their networks with additional port count.
- The NetVanta 1238 - This model offers the same standard features as the NetVanta 1238 PoE, but does not support PoE.
- The NetVanta 1234 PoE - This 24-port Layer 2 Fast Ethernet Switch supports both 802.3af and legacy PoE making it perfect for VoIP and Wi-Fi applications. It offers four Gigabit uplink ports and is suitable for SMBs with a need for fast, secure LAN switching.
- The NetVanta 1234 - This model offers the same standard features as the NetVanta 1234 PoE, but does not support PoE.

These platforms, like all NetVanta switching solutions, offer fast and secure LAN switching and are based on the ADTRAN OS. The ADTRAN OS which is common across all NetVanta products and provides standards-based, non-blocking switching; support for Virtual LANs (VLANs); Quality of Service (QoS), Link Aggregation, advanced management; TCL scripting; and remote configuration capability. They also feature a web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) with step-by-step configuration wizards, as well as a user-familiar Command Line Interface (CLI) for ease of set-up and management.
