Sybase Unveils New Mobility Platform for Unwiring the Enterprise

Sybase has demonstrated its next generation architecture for mobilizing enterprise applications, Sybase Unwired Platform, to approximately 1,200 attendees from more than 41 countries at its TechWave User Training and Solutions Conference. With this new architecture, Sybase is fulfilling its promise to unwire the enterprise and extend it to employees and end consumers by providing a single, complete mobile platform with industry-leading technologies to ease the development, deployment and management of strategic mobile applications.

Sybase Unwired Platform will address the multichannel access gateway (MAG) requirements by integrating development and deployment of mobile applications with streamlined device security and management for a range of mobile device types. This next generation mobile platform will enable strategic mobile deployments versus tactical or siloed mobile application approaches, significantly reducing a company's total cost of ownership.

Sybase Unwired Platform will provide the ability to build, deploy and manage mobile applications in a way that is simple, fast, secure and open. It enables companies to create an information edge by optimizing and enhancing the infrastructure they already own, linking valuable data resources and securely delivering information anytime, anywhere. In addition, Sybase Unwired Platform will expand the enterprise with a mobile paradigm that extends a reliable messaging network to consumers.

Key features and benefits:
- Ease of development and deployment – Sybase Unwired Platform will include a 4GL tooling environment that greatly simplifies mobile application development. It integrates with the Visual Studio and Eclipse development environments, enabling developers to leverage existing tools and expertise. It also provides the ability to design once and easily deploy to a range of mobile device types, classes and operating systems, including Windows Mobile, Windows 32 (laptops/tablets) and RIM BlackBerry.
- Ease of back-end integration – Sybase Unwired Platform will offer out-of-the-box integration with a variety of enterprise applications, including SAP and Remedy, or any other application that leverages databases or Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Ease of management and security – Sybase Unwired Platform will fully integrate with Sybase's industry-leading device management and security solution which provides a single administrative console to centrally manage, secure and deploy mobile data, applications and devices.

Sybase Unwired Platform is currently scheduled to be available in Q4 2008.
