Utimaco Launches SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2

Utimaco has announced the release of SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2, which includes two new product modules and numerous enhancements. The expanded data security suite for 360-degree data protection targets mid-sized to large corporations needing to store and process data across multiple platforms and secure corporate confidential information whether at rest, in motion or in use.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2 secures the exchange of data with external partners and customers providing constant encryption and protection across the widest variety of removable media. The new SafeGuard Data Exchange module transparently encrypts all types of removable media allowing password protected access even on computers where no SafeGuard software has been installed. Integrated into the SafeGuard Management Center and the unique SafeGuard key management, companies can for the first time ensure permanent and compliant access to all encrypted removable media within their enterprise.

Its fully automated, user-transparent operation ensures no impact on employee productivity. Simply drag and drop files into the media and they are automatically encrypted. Furthermore, the new module offers flexible workflow options by allowing users to store both encrypted and plain text files on the same media. If SafeGuard Data Exchange is not installed, the encrypted data can be accessed by a password protected stand-alone application. Users can now define and exchange their own keys or passwords for removable media, or for the encrypted files stored on those media. The unique key-ring feature enables secure data sharing between members of a project team, across the company or even with external partners.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2 provides integration with and central management of Windows Vista BitLocker Drive Encryption. With the new SafeGuard Partner Connect module, organizations can now use BitLocker and/or the SafeGuard Device Encryption to encrypt hard drives, as well as centrally manage and administer both solutions jointly through SafeGuard Management Center. In mixed environments this guarantees for every client full protection from one, single console.

Additional new features in SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2:
- Auto-Registration: SafeGuard Enterprise can be used in environments with any type of directory service. The configured clients can autonomously register themselves on the SafeGuard Enterprise Server and automatically fill the management database;
- Full support for Windows XP and Windows Vista;
- Customized and archivable inventory and log reports to help organizations meet current and historical compliance and auditing requirements;
- Lenovo Rescue & Recovery (RnR) support for Windows XP and Vista;
- ActivIdentity and RSA are added to the wide range of smartcards and tokens as well as keyboards with integrated smartcard reader from HP, Dell and Cherry all of which are supported by SafeGuard Enterprise for use during power-on authentication.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2 is available today in English, German, French, Japanese and "Unicode" based support for local languages.
