ANTs Data Server 3.60 Now Available for Beta Testing

ANTs Software has announced that beta testing of version 3.60 of its flagship ANTs Data Server is now underway at several customer sites and is available for testing by others. This newest release includes compatibility enhancements to help make migration from legacy databases easier while offering improvements in performance and manageability to handle demanding applications, and is the result of the most significant software development effort in the company's history.

The ANTs Data Server 3.60 expands its database compatibility with a significant number of new features, including support for the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) and expanded support for Oracle's PL/SQL stored procedure language and PL/SQL Packages, as well as new extensions for Sybase and SQL Server. Performance gains are achieved through an improved high-speed data loader that is 400 percent faster than previous versions, and a new quality-of-service feature that enables administrators to prioritize users and queries to meet stringent response-time criteria and guarantee service levels. The new Information Schema enhances database management with comprehensive statistics on internal operations and performance characteristics, and can present this data in popular Oracle V$ systems management views. Other enhancements include incremental online backup and improved automated restore, as well as new and local country support using the IBM International Components for Unicode (ICU) library.

The ANTs Data Server is a full-featured, standards-compliant relational database management system based on a SQL query execution engine that incorporates innovative, lock-free operations. It can typically be deployed on fewer servers with the potential to reduce hardware, software and system administration costs by 60 to 90 percent. Through its compatibility with Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server databases, and its embedded deployment mode that supports Oracle-TimesTen applications, the ANTs Data Server allows applications to be moved without the major rewrites and cost usually associated with application migration.
