Western Scientific Unveils PetaBlade II

Western Scientific has unveiled its energy efficient PetaBlade II platform, which is slated for release in January 2007. The PetaBlade II offers major performance-per-watt advantages over standard servers for commercial markets. Energy–efficient computing is an essential step for the industry as large businesses seek to reduce operating costs.

The PetaBlade II does more than address server issues. It also manages computing infrastructure challenges. Cutting edge capabilities are used to assimilate computing, storage, power, and network resources into a high-performance virtualized, highly available environment. This results in a drastically lowered total cost of ownership (TCO) for an assorted set of applications, including database clustering, HPC computing, virtualization, server farms, and Web hosting.
