GCT Delivers Most Integrated Monolithic Single-Chip Solution for Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Mobile TV Applications

GCT Semiconductorn has announced a new monolithic single chip, GDM7004, which fully integrates the RF tuner and the channel decoder for T-DMB applications. GDM7004 includes all the major components required to implement a T-DMB receiver, supporting Band 3 and L-Band. This single-chip also comprises an analog baseband, an A/D converter and a digital demodulator, as well as a channel decoder and host interfaces. When connected with an A/V processor, GDM7004 represents the world’s most integrated total solution for T-DMB available today.

T-DMB service is rapidly gaining popularity in Korea, with over 1.6 million receivers sold as of August 2006. T-DMB service is currently commercially on-air in Korea, with field trials on-going in China and several European countries.

GDM7004 utilizes state-of-the-art direct conversion (zero IF) RF, removing the need for costly and space-consuming IF, SAW filtering. Housed in 121pin LFBGA (8mmx8mmx0.9mm), this solution offers full capacity of ensemble de-interleaving using embedded SRAM, as well as low power consumption under 100mW. GCT established proven reference designs with major multimedia processors for T-DMB handsets and other applications.
