Mandriva Launches Linux Corporate Server 4.0

With version 4.0 of Corporate Server, Mandriva enables its current and future customers in all types of enterprise to benefit from the best of Linux along with the best of Mandriva for the administration and integration of servers. In designing this all new version, Mandriva's team have retained all the features that made version 3.0 a success while adding more strong points.

Mandriva Linux Corporate Server 4.0 has been designed to be modular and customizable. With Mandriva Linux Corporate Server 4.0 it is easy to configure specialized servers, such as mail servers, file/print servers and directory servers. The configuration process is particularly easy to put to work thanks to FIBRIC, an installation assistant accessible by web browser. Even better, the complete Corporate Server 4.0 installation process takes less than 10 minutes. Corporate Server 4.0 works on a wide range of servers and supports a variety of important enterprise software including Oracle, Websphere, DB2 and Arkeia.

Virtualization is an essential function in modern enterprise servers. There are many different virtualization technologies and working philosophies. Mandriva believes that no single one covers all the needs of all users, so we have decided to offer a wide choice of virtualization technologies, including VMware, Xen and OpenVZ. We are particularly proud of the integration work that has been done on OpenVZ in partnership with the company responsible for OpenVZ, SWsoft.

The experience we have gained through the deployment of previous versions of Corporate Server has shown us the importance of integrating directory services into an enterprise's infrastructure. In view of this, Mandriva has made sure that connecting to the most popularly used directory servers (Active Directory, LDAP) is as simple as possible. Directory server integration has been enabled for all components of the distribution for which such a connection is practical.

Finally, Mandriva Linux Corporate Server 4.0 will be afforded not only security maintenance but also development maintenance, allowing all users to access the latest versions of the distribution's components. In this way, system administrators can continue to benefit from the best open source technology.
