SafeNet's Client-Server IPSec and IKEv2 Security Toolkits

SafeNet has announced a major upgrade of the industry-leading QuickSec IPSec VPN product line. The release of a pair of complementary security products QuickSec 4.0 Client Toolkit and QuickSec 4.0 Server Toolkit enables the large installed base of QuickSec OEM developers to add IKEv2 to the full range of enterprise security gateways, enterprise-class PBX systems, desktop VPN clients, and mobile VPN platforms in use today.

QuickSec is the most broadly used professional-quality security development toolkit for IPSec gateways, appliances, and software applications in the world, with advanced levels of protection, reliability, and performance mandated by OEM customers and industry standards. This major release of QuickSec 4.0 Client and Server Toolkits is the first simultaneous release by SafeNet of compatible client-side and server-side development tools implementing the most current IPSec security features like IKEv2, stateful firewall, IPv6/IPv4 support, 64-bit platform support, and pre-integration with high-speed security processors for hardware acceleration.

The QuickSec security toolkits provide a complete, standards compliant, and interoperable IPSec and IKE protocol implementation including IPSec cryptography algorithms such as AES, 3DES, SHA-1, SHA-256, MD5, Diffie-Hellman, RSA, DSA, as well as PKI acceleration. QuickSec also provides a multilayer stateful IPv6 / IPv4 TCP/IP firewall with attack prevention, a dual-mode IKE stack enables devices to auto-negotiate an IKEv2 connection or fall back to IKEv1, and Application Layer Gateways (ALGs) for various protocols, including HTTP, SIP, FTP, and CIFS.

QuickSec 4.0 Server Toolkit (Standard Edition) is a complete IPSec VPN development toolkit that provides a robust and fully standards compliant IPSec / IKEv2 solution for device and software developers. QuickSec 4.0 Server Toolkit enables robust authentication, confidentiality, and data integrity for security gateways, firewalls, and network servers. The server toolkit includes robust IKEv2/v1 authentication, remote access features, and high availability APIs for import and export of IPSec security associations for device redundancy and failover. The small runtime footprint with linear deterministic memory allocation ensures seamless scalability. QuickSec 4.0 Server Toolkit supports Linux 2.4/2.6, Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 (also on 64-bit platforms), MontaVista 4.0, VxWorks, and other embedded operating systems.

QuickSec 4.0 Client Toolkit (Standard Edition) is a software development toolkit designed for networking system developers building IPSec VPN client functionality into next-generation OEM software and hardware products. The toolkit provides a robust, small-footprint IKEv2 capable IPSec client to address the market demand for client solutions that provide secure communications on a variety of client devices and software. Supported client platforms include Linux 2.6, MontaVista Linux 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 (also on 64-bit platforms).

QuickSec 4.0 has been designed to provide a wide array of options for dedicated hardware acceleration. To accelerate processing speeds of time-critical security algorithms and protocols, QuickSec 4.0 provides native hardware support for SafeNet security processors such as the SafeXcel-51x0 - a unique inline security SoC that processes IP packets faster and more efficiently than conventional look-aside security co-processors.

The QuickSec Toolkits are a suited IPSec solution for security-enabled SoCs from silicon vendors that have integrated SafeNet's hardware security engines into their products to provide robust, high-speed security functions. QuickSec has been optimized to seamlessly interoperate with the SafeNet security engines embedded in devices from vendors such as AMCC, AMD, and PMC-Sierra, resulting in excellent security system performance and unparalleled ease of integration. The seamless integration with QuickSec Toolkits significantly enhances the value of these chips and allows silicon vendors to provide a complete hardware/software security system to their customers.

QuickSec 4.0 also supports all popular security co-processors in the market, including SafeNet's SafeXcel 1141, 1741, and 184x series, giving OEM developers the flexibility to select security hardware that meets their specific design goals.
