Senpai DC/DC Converters Deliver Up to 600W/Cubic Inch

FDK Corporation has announced the latest products in their Senpai Series of non-isolated point of load (POL) converters. Delivering 8 Amperes (A) in the smallest industry-standard footprints, the FPMR12TR7508NA and the FPMR12SR7508NA converters provide 60% higher output current than other available POL converters in the same input voltage range. The power density of up to 600Watts/cubic inch sets a new standard for power delivery in this footprint and pin-out. These dc/dc converters are designed for Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) and Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) applications that require high efficiency, tight regulation, and high reliability in elevated temperature environments with low airflow.

The FPMR12TR7508NA converter is offered in a 0.9x0.4x0.195 inch (22.9x10.2x4.95mm) SIP package, and the FPMR12SR7508NA converter is offered in a 0.8x0.45x0.211 inch (20.3x11.4x5.35mm) SMD package. They operate from a wide input voltage range of 6.0 Volts - 14 Volts (V) DC, and provide programmable and fixed output voltages in the range of 0.75V - 5.5V DC. Both products feature remote ON/OFF, over-current and over-temperature protection, and output voltage adjust, and are compatible with standard trim equations.

These Senpai Series converters deliver full-rated output current, with little or no derating, at high ambient temperatures, with minimal airflow. Under natural convection cooling, the FPMR12TR7508NA and the FPMR12SR7508NA provide the full-rated current of 8A in ambient temperatures up to 85 degrees Celsius and 70 degrees Celsius, respectively. This best-in-class thermal performance results from electrical, thermal, and packaging design that is optimized for high density circuit card conditions.

All Senpai Series products are RoHS compliant.
