Sprint Expands EV-DO Wireless High-Speed Service in Oregon

Sprint Nextel Corporation has announced expansion of its high-speed wireless network, Sprint Power Vision, into much of Western Oregon including Portland, Salem, Eugene, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Vancouver, Oregon City, Tigard, Corvallis, McMinnville, West Linn, Happy Valley, Milwaukee, Sherwood, Gresham, Wilsonville, Newberg, Troutdale, Clackamas and Tualatin. For the first time, Sprint wireless customers in these areas can purchase full-length songs right from their phones, downloading tracks over the air at broadband-like speed. Additionally, customers can enjoy more than 40 video and audio channels of live and on-demand programming directly on their phones; take and share high-resolution pictures and high-quality video; and retrieve customized news, traffic, weather, sports and entertainment information.

Sprint's Power Vision Network encourages mobility, which allows businesses to wirelessly enable mobile workers and others who desire information access on the go, changing how and where business is done while providing the additional advantage of the industry's best value pricing. Various devices provide users faster speeds to download e-mails and leverage mobile applications when in Power Vision coverage areas. Sprint's Power Vision Network can be accessed by plugging a high-speed PCS Connection Card into a notebook computer or via one of the new Sprint Power Vision phones including the first Pocket PC phone featuring the Windows Mobile platform.

The Sprint Power Vision Network is based on state-of-the-art EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized) CDMA technology, delivering wireless data at average download speeds of 400-700 kilobits per second and a peak rate of up to 2.0 Megabits per second.

The Sprint Music Store was the first service in the U.S. to allow wireless customers to purchase and download full-length songs over-the-air to be enjoyed on their phone or PC. Customers can browse, preview, purchase and listen to more than 400.000 full-length songs in stereo sound from virtually every genre from all the major music labels while on the go, right from their Sprint Power Vision Phone. The service is easily accessed from the Music icon on the main menu of the phone. Customers receive two copies of the song - one formatted for their phone and another for their PC - and can organize their music and create playlists from the phone. Since its launch on October 24, 2005, more than 2 million songs have been downloaded.

On Demand is a new service that allows customers to receive up-to-date information such as news, sports, weather, or entertainment information customized to the customer's zip code. Five info-channels are included at no additional cost for customers with a Sprint Power Vision Pack. Info-channels including the Oxford American dictionary, TV Guide, unlimited directory search, and maps and driving directions are available for an additional monthly charge. The application is pre-loaded on Sprint Power Vision Phones and can be accessed from the On Demand icon on the main menu.

Sprint TV is an Emmy Award-winning service that allows customers to watch live TV on the go with full-motion video and high-quality audio on their Sprint Power Vision Phone. Customers who subscribe to the enhanced service can choose from more than 40 video and audio channels of live and exclusive on-demand programming. Customers can choose from news, sports, weather, movie trailers and entertainment channels from major broadcasting brands including NFL Network, Fox News Channel LIVE, CNN To Go, NBC Mobile, ABC News Now, E., MTV, Comedy Central, CMT, VH1 and Cartoon Network. Sprint also offers streaming music channels from SIRIUS, MusicChoice, MobiRadio, MSpot Radio, Altitude and Rhapsody.
