Avanex Introduces FTTH Supervisory Channel Filter

Avanex Corporation has announced the introduction of its 1901FBF PowerBragg Supervisory Channel Filter for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) applications, which is based upon its proprietary Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technology.

Real time monitoring of the FTTH network's performance, connectivity, and reliability allows automatic and accurate identification of network faults. This enables faster network recovery and the prompt restoration of subscriber services, which reduces operational expenditure and maximizes subscriber revenues.

The 1901FBF enables the remote monitoring of the FTTH connection to a subscriber's premises from the service providers central office. Thanks to its extremely low insertion loss, the Supervisory Channel Filter does not impact the performance of the FTTH network for subscriber applications.

Fiber Bragg Grating technology removes the need for expensive component packaging and minimizes any additional field installation costs by enabling the integration of Supervisory Channel Filters into the single-mode optical fibers connecting subscribers' to an FTTH network.
