Sierra wireless AirCard 850

Sierra Wireless and XacomComunicaciones announced that the AirCard 850 HSDPA wide area wireless network card for HSDPA/UMTSnetworks is now available from Xacom to reseller and enterprise channels inSpain, France, and Portugal. In addition, Xacom will distribute the MC8755 PCIExpress Mini Card embedded module to original equipment manufacturers in theregion for machine-to-machine (M2M) and mobile computing applications. The new AirCard 850 card and MC8755 embedded module deliver the latest in3G wireless data technology for mobile computing. Out of the box, bothproducts are fully functional on HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS networks.

The AirCard 850 utilizes the 2100 MHz UMTS frequency band and offersaverage data rates of 500 to 800 kbps, with bursts up to 1.8 Mbps on an HSDPAnetwork. Ideal for frequent travelers, the AirCard 850 enables internationalroaming on HSDPA and UMTS networks across Europe, and on all four EDGE andGPRS frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide. TheAirCard 850 wireless WAN card is a Type II PC Card with a slim, unextendeddesign, allowing users to conveniently store the unit inside the laptop.
The MC8755 PCI Express Mini Card module is built using the MSM6275 Mobile Station Modem chipset from QUALCOMM and offers peak download speedsof 1.8 Mbps. The MC8755 operates on the 2100 MHz HSDPA UMTS frequency band andis designed for markets in Europe and Asia. MC8755 modules are also compatiblewith EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks on all four GSM frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz), for global roaming in areas where an HSDPA or UMTSnetwork is not available. The MC8755 module measures 51 x 30 x 4.5 mm, weighsin at less than 12 g, and complies with new European Union directives on RoHS(Restrictions on Hazardous Substances).
