Radio access network analysis solution

RADCOM introduced the RANalysis, acomprehensive UMTS RAN traffic analyzer. This unique solution helps carriersdiscover optimal RAN parameters including antenna and power settings.Eschewing the commonly used, but less efficient, site-by-site technique, theUMTS Radio Analyzer takes a session-wide approach that gives operators a viewof the entire network. It helps operators solve three of the most challenging WCDMA cell siteissues, traffic load balancing, handoff overhead management, and interferencecontrol. By identifying network-wide traffic versus capacity issues, thesolution gives operators the visibility they need to balance traffic. Byreducing interference, it lessens the operator's need for additional RANresources, substantially reducing infrastructure costs. Additionally, byproviding key RAN statistics and analyses, the RANalysis helps carrierspredict future network performance according to expected traffic growth.
Vendor independent, the RANalysis supports Radio optimization processescarriers may already have in place. It can be fully integrated with Radioengineers' daily optimization and planning workflows to help them makesignificant improvements in their networks' reliability and availability.
"Many of the service problems experienced by UMTS subscribers are due tomalfunctioning in the UTRAN and especially in the RF, " said Doron Milchtaich- RADCOM's Director of Product Management, Cellular Solutions. "Currently, carriers do not have the ability to easily pinpoint RF problems. However, using RADCOM's RANalysis, they can now routinely conduct post-capture andanalysis network cleaning as well as ad hoc investigations of reportedproblems."
