EarthLink extends DSL agreement with BellSouth

EarthLink, Inc., the nation's next generation Internet service provider (ISP), today announcedthat it has extended through the end of 2008 its commercial agreement withBellSouth (NYSE: BLS) to provide Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service tocustomers in BellSouth's coverage area.
"Customers throughout the Southeast have greatly benefited from ourpartnership with BellSouth and their ability to have a greater choice in high-speed service, " said Steven Dean, EarthLink vice president of infrastructureoperations. "This agreement extends our long term relationship with BellSouthto deliver an always-on, DSL connection to customers who want an enhancedInternet experience."
"EarthLink and BellSouth have long enjoyed a positive relationship ingiving customers throughout the Southeast a choice in broadband service, " saidLee Priest, BellSouth vice president, Business Marketing. "This contractextension is a win-win scenario for EarthLink and BellSouth as both companiesseek to grow their DSL customer bases."
Under the financial terms of the deal, which were not disclosed, EarthLinkwill be able to utilize BellSouth's broadband infrastructure through at leastthe end of 2008. EarthLink will also receive competitive rates for 3.0 Mbpsservice.
