Verizon unveils integrated wireless and wired solutions

Verizon Business, the premier provider of advanced global communications and information technology (IT) solutions, today unveiled new integrated wireless and wireline offerings that will enable U.S. business and government customers to enhance workforce mobility and provide reliable back up for customer data networks. The new offerings -- the first since the formation of Verizon Business -- combine the power of the Verizon Business IP network with the Verizon Wireless network, demonstrating an immediate realization of the Verizon/MCI merger's promise to deliver innovative, new solutions to the business marketplace.

As part of its newly integrated product and services portfolio, revealed today in a separate announcement, Verizon Business is launching an enhanced suite of Enterprise Mobility solutions, based on the former MCI's remote access suite. The new mobility offering features an advanced platform, endpoint security and EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) broadband wireless capability, enabling workers to securely access their corporate systems and the Internet while traveling or working remotely.

Additionally, the company is making wireless broadband access available as a business continuity solution that provides companies with a wireless backup for their data networks, helping to maintain continuous operation in the event of primary network disruption resulting from natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances.

"As we formally launch Verizon Business in the marketplace, we are immediately delivering the benefits made possible by our unique strengths, superior assets and distinctive capabilities, " said Ed McGuinness, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "This is just the beginning; Verizon Business will continue to bring more new products and innovative IT solutions to market to support our customers' transformation of the way they do business."

Enterprise Mobility Featuring Wireless Broadband

Immediately available, Verizon Business' enhanced suite of Enterprise Mobility solutions with broadband wireless access will enable business and government customers to improve productivity and communications by using Verizon Wireless' broadband service throughout 181 major U.S. metropolitan areas, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City and Washington, D.C.

This new wireless capability allows company workers to connect to corporate systems -- without using a phone jack, modem or designated hotspot -- with strengthened security not found in other wireless high-speed services. Verizon Business customers simply use a Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess/National Access PC card that slides directly into most laptops, and through the Verizon Business Enterprise Mobility platform are assured they will receive end-to-end security protection for corporate data.

Through its powerful new Enterprise Mobility platform, Verizon Business is able to offer customers a comprehensive range of benefits, including advanced administrator capabilities, a user-friendly desktop interface and high-performance, secure connectivity in more than 150 countries. Additionally, Verizon Business is launching new security features that prevent unauthorized users from entering a corporate network, while ensuring end-users are fully compliant with corporate security policies. As a result, companies will be able to increase the security of their networks, helping to reduce network downtime and business disruption.

Broadband Wireless Access for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

For customers looking to enhance their business continuity and disaster recovery planning, Verizon Business now offers greater redundancy with its IP VPN Broadband and Secure Gateway -- Retail & Remote Office Wireless Backup Services built on technology that can maintain communications under the most adverse conditions. Because the Verizon Wireless network incorporates extensive redundancies and backup systems designed to improve reliability, customers have additional protection against last mile-related outages by bypassing local landline facilities.

Ideal for public and private networks, the wireless broadband backup services are enabled through the company's IP VPN Broadband Service and Secure Gateway Services. Verizon Business' Secure Gateway Services allow customers to take advantage of a one-solution approach to securely connect private and public IP networks and help ensure the seamless delivery of customer traffic from origination to destination. Now with broadband wireless backup options, customers can leverage a wireless approach to business continuity should their primary landline connection become unavailable. The new backup solutions will be offered throughout 181 major metropolitan areas coast-to-coast starting next month.

"Broadband wireless is a perfect example of how we are helping customers take advantage of every available solution, technology and network platform to help maximize the performance, value and dependability of their mission-critical networks, " said McGuinness.

New Capabilities Around the Globe

Verizon Business will develop, and later this year introduce, similar offerings to business customers in other countries, as local conditions permit.

"Our new capabilities will yield new and greater possibilities for our customers around the globe, " added McGuinness. "As one of the world's great, next-generation communications companies, we are in the perfect position to help move the industry forward with the world-class capabilities of Verizon Communications, Verizon Wireless and now Verizon Business."
