Advanced solution for distribution and display of information

NEC Corporation and NEC Nexsolutions Corporation today announced the delivery of their broadband display solution to the Conrad Tokyo, which opened earlier this year in July. The newly implemented solution achieves the automatic distribution of high-definition images and text at the desired time through broadband networks for display on relevant flat-panel displays, which have been installed at a variety of locations around the hotel such as in the lobby and reception rooms. This solution will realize effective promotion activities fitting to the luxurious environment of a top class hotel and its superior brand image.

Positioned as the most luxurious brand of the world's largest hotel chain, Hilton International, the Conrad hotel recently made its debut in Tokyo with the opening of the Conrad Tokyo. NEC's track record as a leading provider of advanced, high-quality broadband display solutions, resulted in its contract with Hilton International as its preferred vendor of PBX systems in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.

The solution employs InfoChannel(R) 3, information distribution software produced by Scala, Inc., which holds the top share in this market in the U.S. and Europe, in addition to SITESQUARE, the most commonly used software in Japan produced by NEC Nexsolutions' that is utilized by as many as 700 corporations. InfoChannel(R) 3 provides information comprised of high quality images and text for display in locations around the hotel necessitating an air of luxury such as the hotel lobby. SITESQUARE automatically sends the most suitable information to displays in reception halls and meeting rooms, and timely distribution is achieved through its tie-up with the hotel's reservation system. Owing to both technologies, NEC's broadband display solution is contributing to the advanced information provision service now in operation at Conrad Tokyo.

The main features of this solution include the following:

* Content distribution according to customer's needs
Multimedia information such as events at on-site restaurants and shops
is distributed from a central server to 42-inch plasma and other LCD
displays installed in the hotel lobby and reception rooms.

* Efficient creation and management of contents
The easy creation of new contents such as videos, photos and subtitles
is realized through a specialized content creation tool, and existing
contents can be edited as desired to allow maximum utilization of all
content assets. Furthermore, operation and management of distributed
contents are carried out by a central server, and distribution of
information from reservation systems is also enabled.

"Our innovative broadband display solution is just one of a range of integrated IT/network solutions provided by NEC's advanced portfolio. Building on the success of this solution's implementation in Conrad Tokyo, NEC Group will strive to market its solutions to a wide range of industries including catering, medical and retail, meeting the needs of its customers, current and potential, across the globe." said Kazuo Tsuzuki, Associate Senior Vice President of NEC Corporation.
