Zola Mennenöh | Look for the blue hoodie! xx, M

Copenhagen/Cologne-based songwriter Zola Mennenöh is releasing today via Bandcamp the second single "Look for the blue hoodie! xx, M" extract from her upcoming eloquent debut album "Longing for Belonging" to be released November 13, 2020 via Shahzad Ismaily’s figureight records.

Known - and highly in demand - as a session musician in her native Germany and her adoptive second homes in Denmark and Norway, Zola Mennenöh is a singer, guitarist, flautist and sound artist of huge talent. She has toured the world over, specialising in jazz, improvisation and experimental & avant garde choral music, both as a performer and as composer. It is through this experience and years of honing that Longing for Belonging comes into existence.

Her debut solo album is a collection of delicate treasures: graceful, expressive and elegantly poised, exploring the great depth of her abilities as a musician and the cultured poetry of her lyrics.

ABOUT THE SINGLE
"Look for the blue hoodie! xx, M" refers to one of several letters from an analogue-digital pen pal/letter friendship between two strangers who, despite barely knowing each other, feel drawn to each other's presence. A fascination about the other person, a look in the eye exchanged, transferring the history and story of one or more lifetimes. Transmitting shared experiences - of love, of loss, of sorrow, hope, friendship. Offering warmth and open arms. Creating safety and a seed of belonging. The song is about these shared looks and people who cross your path, for a moment or a long time, and leave again. They arrive for a reason - to teach you, to heal you, to guide you, to love you. Coincidence or destiny?
