One Step Beyond Jazz A Multi-Media Live Event Sunday Jan. 26th 7-8 PM Warwick Center for The Performing Art Beyond Jazz is a monthly workshop co-led by Rick Savage, Joe Vincent Tranchina and Steve Rubin. The sessions are an exploration of ensemble playing via improvisation. Different artists have participated including Jeff Ciampa, Michael D’Agostino, Ian Smit, Kevin Brown, Neil Alexander, Dave Smith, Bob Rosen, Billy Stein, Rick Savage, Steve Rubin, Joe Vincent Tranchina and Ed Littman, to name a few. Over the years some of these players have brought this improvisational approach to the Seligmann Center in Sugar Loaf and the Warwick Center for The Performing Arts. There have been performances with a fine artist working with a large canvas , dancers, spoken word and slide shows, each invoking an in the moment reaction by the players. For this performance, Ian Smit, Michael D’Agostino, Rick Savage, Joe Vincent Tranchina, Kevin Brown and Steve Rubin will provide guitar & effects, percussion and drums, trumpet, flugelhorn, electric keyboards, acoustic bass, drums and more percussion. They’ve chosen groupings of images which will be projected onto the screen at the community center.
