THE OPENING OF THE ‘ PREMIO ANDREA PARODI’ 2019

Not long until the 12th Edition of the ‘Premio Andrea Parodi’, which will see professional artists perform, alternating with the ten successful finalists of the competition event, the only one in Italy dedicated to World Music, this year seeing a large presence of foreigner artists from Poland, Senegal, Spain, the United Kingdom, Togo, Tunisia and the USA.
In a Cagliari where Summer is still evident, from 10th to 12th October at 21:1, hosted for the very first time at the Auditorium of the Conservatoire "Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina" of Cagliari, hosting artists such as Moni Ovadia, Simone Cristicchi and Tosca. In addition to: the winner of last year's competition, La Maschera, and artistic formations from the Cagliari Conservatoire. All under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda.
Daniela Zedda, photographer and photojournalist of international importance will receive The Hall of Fame Award 2019 .
The opening of the multimedia museum on Andrea Parodi will set the start of the Festival on the 9th October. The museum will be located on a mobile vehicle near the Auditorium of the Conservatoire.
On the same evening at 21:30, at the Bflat in Cagliari, a preview dedicated to the show "Lingua Madre, il canzoniere di Pasolini" will be on, with Duo Bottasso, Elsa Martin, Davide Ambrogio. This is an original production from the Premio Città di Loano, Mare e Miniere festival and the ‘Premio Andrea Parodi’, created by Enrico De Angelis.
The festival and contest will begin on October 10th at 20:30. Following the contestants: A.T.A. - Acoustic Tarab Alchemy (from Tunisia and Lazio) with the song "Fattouma", in Arabic; Saly Diarra (Senegal) with "Musow" in Bambara; Arsene Duevi (Togo) with "Agamà", in ewè; Fanfara Station (Tunisia, Italy and the USA) with "Rahil", in Tunisian; Krzikopa (Poland) with "Hasiorki", in Silesian; Maribop (Spain) with "Un munnu dintra un munnu" in Sicilian and Basque; Federico Marras Perantoni (Sardinia) with "Canzona di mari n.2 - Fóggu e fiàra", in Sardinian; Elliott Morris (the United Kingdom) with "The End of The World Blues", in English; Setak (Abruzzo) with "Marije", in the Abruzzese; Suonno D'Ajere (Campania) with "Suspiro", in Neapolitan. The ten finalists will perform their chosen competition song and another from their repertoire.
During the evening time will be dedicated to a percussionist quartet from the Conservatoire of Cagliari, and for the screening of the video "Hey You" by the Cypriots Monsieur Doumani (Critics Award Winners in 2018).
On this, as on the other evenings, Gianmaurizio Foderaro and Ottavio Nieddu are the assigned presenters.
On Friday October 11th, the side events will begin in the Search Conference Room. At 10am there will be a seminar on the rights of Performing Artists and Performers, led by a representative from NuovoImaie, at 11.30am a further seminar on music edition contracts, led by Maria Grazia Maxia and Paolo Audino. At 16:30 in the afternoon, Fausto Pellegrini will present his book “Incanto. Viaggio nella canzone d’autrice", which will be followed at 17.30, by a CD presentation of the collection Adoriza "Viaggio in Italia.Cantando le nostre radici", with Tosca and Piero Fabrizi, presented by Elisabetta Malantrucco.
The second evening will start at 20:30, in which all the competitors will perform a piece by Andrea Parodi, in addition to their chosen competition song. A way to honour and pay tribute to such an artist, a singer and musician of noteworthy talent, who went from singer-songwriter with Tazenda to a highly valued solo career and re-elaboration of his roots, thanks to which he became an international reference in the World Music scene. During the evening a clarinet quartet from the Cagliari Conservatoire and a representative from the Adoriza collection will perform. Guest of honour - Moni Ovadia.
On Friday, as on Saturday evening, auditors from the festival Crêuza de mä - Music for cinema will attend. Organised by the Backstage Association, in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and Sardegna Film Commission.
There will be a seminar on “Pasolini colto e popolare: LinguaMadre”, at 10:30am on Saturday 12th October in Search Conference Room, with Duo Bottasso, Elsa Martin, Davide Ambrogio, Elena Ledda, Mauro Palmas, Jacopo Tomatis.
At 11.15 am, the 5th edition of the International World Music Study Day will take place, this year entitled "Label Issues". Organised by the ‘Premio Andrea Parodi’ and the Conservatoire of Cagliari, in collaboration with the Department of History, Cultural Heritage and Territory at the University of Cagliari. Gianluca Floris, Ignazio Macchiarella, Roberto Mileddu will intervene, coordinator Jacopo Tomatis.
On Saturday evening, as ever at 8.30 pm, the Grand Finale, with the competitors performing their competition song. In addition to a Conservatoire line-up, La Maschera (2018 Edition Winners), Tosca and Simone Cristicchi will all be performing. There will also be an excerpt from "Lingua Madre, il canzoniere di Pasolini" and the awarding of the 2019 Hall of Fame Award to Daniela Zedda.
All concluding with the proclamation of the competition winner, for the Critics Award and the International Jury Award, the special mentions for words, music and interpretation and the various dedicated awards. All the awards made by Maria Conte, a Sardinian goldsmith with international recognition.
This year too will entitle the winner to a tour of eight concerts offered thanks to NuovoImaie (project created with the funds of the art.7 L. 93/92) albeit in lack of the necessary requirements requested by NuovoImaie, it will be offer to one of the other finalists.
The winners will be proclaimed by three different juries.
