Donald Harrison Quartet FRI & SAT • AUG 9 & 10 7 & 9:30 PM New Orleans alto saxophonist Donald Harrison first came to prominence as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in the early '80's, followed by critical acclaim co-leading a group with trumpeter Terence Blanchard that recorded for Columbia Records. Harrison collaborated with Dr. John and others on "Indian Blues" and then innovated a style known as "Nouveau Swing."
