A CELEBRATION OF SONNY ROLLINS MUSIC

We have been honored to have presented some of our finest and most accomplished musicians in concert. In the early 1980s, we presented events in various venues in Philadelphia and New York City. For a time, we were unable to function; but after relocation in 2007, we reorganized the nonprofit in Harlem; when we were fully organized in NYS, with IRS confirmation, and Charities Bureau registration, we again sought to present master jazz musicians at various venues.
When George Aprile opened The 75 Club, we were delighted to be invited to participate. It was difficult when we began as Wilbur’s Warehouse. But slowly and surely, George persisted and The 75 Club is now a vibrant and exciting place in TriBeCa to relax and hear good music. August is a month of vacation, but the Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) has a special event scheduled; you will hear more about that from them.
During the first weekend in September, we have been scheduled to host our event A CELEBRATION OF SONNY ROLLINS MUSIC at The 75 Club. Our Special Guest will be Jazz Master GEORGE COLEMAN on Saturday.

This event was planned at our last Board Meeting. Other quite interesting programming ideas were discussed: we are moving forward with this special weekend. Unfortunately, Sonny Rollins is unable to travel; however, Jim Harrison has contacted his nephew Clifton Anderson who will assist in this Honoring of Sonny Rollins Musical contributions, along with one of Sonny Rollins’ godsons, Eric Wyatt. Sandy Jordan contacted George Coleman: we are always delighted by his presence.
