About the new album, An unRuly Manifesto, it has got 4 stars on Downbeat. Moreover, James Brandon Lewis' previous album Radiant Imprints was incredibly successful by critics and audiences: it was considered one of the best jazz album by Rolling Stone, by The New York Times, and by National Public Radio. The album is dedicated to jazz legends Charlie Haden, Ornette Coleman & Surrealism. The Albums title draws its inspiration from Manifestoes written by Bob Kaufman (The Abomunist Manifesto), and Andre Breton (Surrealist Manifesto).
