Teri Roiger: The Cannon Falls-reared, New York-based jazz veteran is an accomplished and knowing singer. On last year’s thoroughly rewarding “Ghost of Yesterday: Shades of Lady Day, ” she shows her depth and range, sparkling on Gil-Scott Heron’s lively, sax-spiked “Lady Day and John Coltrane, ” the saucy, scat-buoyed “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” and the wonderfully woozy “It’s Easy to Remember.” Props to her bass-playing husband, John Menegon, who crafted the imaginative arrangements. Jon Bream, Minneapolis Star/Tribune (June 2018)

Vocalist and Minneapolis native Teri Roiger isn’t afraid to expand the canon of her heartfelt influences. On “Ghosts of Yesterday, ” she wrote lyrics to two Lester Young saxophone solos, and to Ella Fitzgerald’s vocalese on the tune, “Them There Eyes”—all in the context of a Billie Holiday tribute. Thelonious Monk’s family blessed her lyrics to the composer’s classic, “Misterioso, ” which she rechristened “Listen To Your Soul.” That blend of daring and intimacy with the music is evident in her singing too. She’s with a stellar quartet—bassist/husband John Menegon, drummer Phil Hey and pianist Phil Aaron. Britt Robson, City Pages (June 2018)

“A vocalist who wraps (Abbey) Lincoln's complex songs around her finger...”
Marc Myers, JAZZWAX.COM, award-winning blog

“…a voice like the finest bittersweet chocolate full of rich, dark, contradicting flavors that miraculously blend to create one of the most original vocal instruments in decades.” Playboy Magazine

“Teri has an intuitive laid back sense of time reminiscent of Abbey Lincoln and Betty Carter but with her own uniqueness.” JACK DEJOHNETTE (legendary Jazz Drummer & NEA JazzMaster)

“Powerfully moving...segacious warmth...impressively deep...” Christopher Loudon, JAZZTIMES

"Roiger's warm contralto, like aged, fine whiskey, is smooth but heady...” ALL ABOUT JAZZ
“She is made for those who still understand the meaning of the term the real thing.”
STANLEY CROUCH (Author & Cultural Critic)

Teri's latest release "GHOST OF YESTERDAY: Shades of Lady Day" was chosen by acclaimed author/critic Scott Yanow as one of his top 30 Jazz releases of 2017!
