Tonight Dave Chamberlain’s BAND of BONES @ Zinc Bar 8pm & 9:30pm Dave Chamberlain’s BAND of BONES Tuesday, May 15 8pm & 9:30pm Zinc Bar 82 W 3rd St New York, NY 10012 Dave Chamberlain’s BAND of BONES first took shape in late 2008 as an homage to the group led by J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding in the 1950s. They have a unique sound and instrumentation - eight (count ‘em!) trombones and a swinging rhythm section! Stocked with first-call New York jazz artists, Band of Bones has recorded three acclaimed CDs and appeared at jazz venues throughout the NY Metro area. Zinc Bar in many ways has become their “Home away from home”, and they have performed there over twenty times! Their swinging sound has touches of the Basie band, fiery Latin-Jazz, blues, earthy vocals, and be-bop. Featured arrangers are Chris Rinaman, John Yao, and James Zeller. Guest artists who have appeared with them include Steve Turre, Hendrik Meurkens, Robin Eubanks, Steve Davis, Jay Hoggard, Clifton Anderson, Joe Alessi, Tom “Bones” Malone, Michael Davis, Andre Hayward, and Conrad Herwig. “ A sound that demands attention!” WABC Radio “The best big band you’ve never heard about!” HOT HOUSE |
