New Video from Afrika Mamas: Things Are Happening!

Afrika Mamas are proud to release their new video 'Lapha KwaZulu' filmed outside Durban in South Africa by Quintin Lee White.
‘Lapha KwaZulu’ translates as ‘things are happening’ and is a song about communal living and daily life on a traditional homestead in rural KwaZulu-Natal. People from rural areas of KZN are less fortunate than most. Some of them still don’t have electricity or proper toilets, which is why this song says: abanye debase bayitholimpucuko think sisadla ngoludala – ‘people who live in the suburbs have everything, and we are still struggling’.
‘Lapha KwaZulu’ is taken from the new Afrika Mamas album ‘Iphupho’ (The Dream Song). The album takes its name from the group leader Ntombi Lushaba's dream to take Afrika Mamas' music to the world, with the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo as her inspiration. Finally, her dreams came true when they recorded this album in the Durban studios owned by one of the sons of Joseph Shabalala, the lead singer of Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
