Steven Bernstein & Sexmob Friday, December 8th 8:00pm Rockland County Jazz and Blues Society An impactful presence on the New York scene over the past 30 years, trumpeter, composer, arranger, and bandleader Steven Bernstein has immersed himself in such a wide array of music that he defies categorization, shifting from New Orleans to hip-hop, modern jazz, rock, blues, and more with ease and finesse. A former member of the Lounge Lizards and Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Band, Bernstein has also composed works for film, theater, and dance in addition to doing arrangements for a diverse list of artists ranging from Lou Reed to Allen Toussaint, Linda Ronstadt, and Bill Frisell. For this performance at the Union Arts Center, Steve brings in his longstanding group Sexmob with saxophonist Briggan Krauss, bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen. This band remains his primary vehicle for exploring the unusual and rare instrument, the slide trumpet. A long time Nyack resident with an enthusiastic local following, Steve’s performances are guaranteed to be entertaining, eclectic, and highly original musical delights.
