THE ONLY WORLD MUSIC CONTEST IN ITALY, PREMIO ANDREA PARODI

The deadline for subscriptions of "Premio Andrea Parodi", the only World Music contest in Italy, is on 31st May 2019. The contest is organised by the homonymous Foundation, with the artistic direction of Elena Ledda. The finals of the 12th edition will be held in Cagliari from 10th to 12th October.
Applications must be sent by, and no later than 31 May 2019, using the format found online www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it (for information: fondazione.andreaparodi@gmail.com). It must contain:
- 2 tracks (2 mp3 files, auditions or live recordings or definitive achievements, indicate
which of the two tracks will be the chosen competition song);
- lyrics and translations (if need be) into Italian of the two pieces;
- artistic curriculum (single or group);
The notice is open to artists worldwide ad is available online on the web site www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it, as ever the registration is free.
All forms must be sent no later than 31st May 2019, using the format found on the following website; www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it (for further information: fondazione.andreaparodi@gmail.com ).
The application must include the following:

indicating which two tracks wishing to compete with);
- lyrics and possible translations into Italian of the two pieces;
- artistic curriculum of the contestant (soloist or group);
The Award aims to enhance the new trends in the music of the peoples i.e. "World Music", or artists that mix the so-called folk or ethnic music with sounds and stylistic models of different origins.
The event was created to pay homage to the remarkable artist Andrea Parodi, who moved from pop art with Tazenda to a soloist career of unique value. Thanks to the reworking of his roots he became an international reference of World Music, collaborating other artists such as Al Di Meola and Noa. Previous edition winners: Francesco Sossio (Puglia) 2009, Compagnia Triskele (Sicily) 2010, Elva Lutza (Sardinia) 2011, Elsa Martin (Friuli) 2012, Unavantaluna (Sicily) 2013, Flo (Campania) 2014, Giuliano Gabriele Ensemble (Lazio) 2015, Pupi di Surfaro (Sicily) 2016, Daniela Pes (Sardinia) 2017, La Maschera (Campania) 2018.
It's been a very intense year for the winner band of 2018: they've been in the final cinquina of Targhe Tenco 2018 in the categoty "Dialect Album", they won Premio Parodi, and they've attended two important national tours reaching the main cities of Italy and a mini tour in Portugal, Canada and Southern Korea. They are now getting ready for the next live events of important national and iunternational festivals, among them the Home Festival in Venice and the Sziget in Budapest.
Moreover, there will be the live events in which they will perform as winner of Premio Andrea Parodi; in fact the winner has the opportunity to perform at the 2019 editions of important and quality festivals: the "European Jazz Expo" in Sardinia, Folkest in Friuli, the Negro Festival in Pertosa (SA), the Mei di Faenza, at the same Parodi Awards 2020, and in various other events throughout Italy to be announced during the year. Noteworthy opportunities to expose their own music. In addition to this, the winner will be awarded a monetary prize to cover costs such as masterclasses, any purchase or rental of musical instruments, or whatever the winner chooses for his own artistic and musical development, to a maximum of 2, 500 euros.
Whereas, the winner of the Critics' Prize will see the professional realisation of a videoclip of their contest song, costs will be covered by the Andrea Parodi Foundation. In addition to the aforementioned, partners of the event are: Premio Bianca D'Aponte, Mare e Miniere, Premio Cittą di Loano for Italian traditional music, University of Cagliari, Barumini Foundation - Culture System.
