Rising Jazz Star Ilya Serov Releases Third Single And Video, “C’est Si Bon,” From Upcoming Back In Time Album

C'est Si Bon, " the new single from rising jazz star Ilya Serov featuring backup vocals by vocal trio The Swing Kittens, is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, CD Baby, GooglePlay and Apple Music . In addition, Serov has a new video for "C'est Si Bon" which also includes The Swing Kittens

"C'est Si Bon" is the third single, following "Swing 42, " and "Tangerine, " from Serov's upcoming album, Back in Time, a homage to the Big Band era. One of France's best-known and loved songs, "C'est Si Bon, " was written in 1947 by composer Henri Betti and lyricist Andre Hornez. The English lyrics were written in 1949 by Jerry Seelen. It has been recorded by many legendary artists, including Eartha Kitt, Dean Martin, Yves Montand, Tom Jones and Louis Armstrong.

Serov's interpretation, featuring his expressive singing and trumpet playing, pays tribute to the classic swinging French jazz style of "C'est Si Bon" embodied in the 1950 recording by Jean Sablon. Produced and mixed by Val Gabriel, "C'est Si Bon" was arranged by Tom Kubis. Grammy-winner Roger Kellaway contributes stellar piano playing to the track.

"I discovered 'C'est Si Bon' when I came to the U.S. and played with a trio that performed a lot of 'gypsy jazz' music, " Serov said. "'C'est Si Bon' was one of the songs we always did. It quickly became a favorite. For Back in Time I wanted a song to represent old-school French Jazz, and it was perfect. The musical arrangements and vocals of The Swing Kittens really help create that classic mood."

Trained at the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, trumpet player and vocalist Serov decided to follow his love of jazz, cultivated as a teenager in the Russian city of Saratov, by pursuing his dreams in the U.S. He now is building a following among fans and seasoned players alike as one of the scene's budding new talents.

Back in Time, the performer's second album, is a tribute to the Big Band era and features classic tunes that showcase both Serov's musical chops and vocal interpretive skills. The album also features collaborations with Grammy-winning musicians saxophonist Eric Marienthal and percussionist Poncho Sanchez.

Serov released his first album September in the Rain, also a big band outing made up entirely of vocal numbers, in 2013.
