Reggie Workman Sextet at The Bogardus Mansion Dec 8 & 9 Shows 7:30 & 9:30 pm

Born in Philadelphia, PA, since the 1950s, Reggie Workman has been a member of many stellar groups led by Jazz Giants, including Gigi Gryce, Roy Haynes, Wayne Shorter and Red Garland. In 1961, Workman joined the John Coltrane Quartet, replacing Steve Davis. He may be heard on the saxophonist's Live at the Village Vanguard sessions, additionally he also recorded with a second bassist, Art Davis, on the 1961 album, Olé Coltrane. After about a year and a European tour, Reggie left the band. He has also played with James Moody, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Yusef Lateef, Pharoah Sanders, and Thelonious Monk, among others.. He has recorded with Archie Shepp, Lee Morgan and David Murray. pianist Tommy Flanagan and drummer Joe Chambers. Currently, he performs with Oliver Lake and Andrew Cyrille in Trio 3.
