MPS Records: Hans Koller Oktett & Wolfgang Dauner Trio, Les Brown And His Band Of Renown, Various (Release: October 6th, 2017)

Dear Media Partners,

Gittin' To Know Y'All is an album that echoes the excitement and surprise generated by the best of the 60's avant-garde.
Jazz Studio - H.G.B.S Number One is a classic – the jazz album that signaled the beginning of Hans-Georg Brunner-Schwer's storied SABA-MPS record company, and pointed the way to the label's next two decades of creative, beautifully recorded music performed by some of the greatest players in jazz.
Today presents Les Brown's band in full flush, with outstanding soloists and compositions that include classic standards as well as contemporary popular hits.

Various - Gittin' To Know Y'All (Live) //1970

Recorded at the 1969 Free Jazz Meeting Baden-Baden, this album features some of the "who's who" of the US and European avant-garde. Co-founder of the iconic Art Ensemble of Chicago, Trumpeter Lester Bowie was at the forefront of the new music. Jazz guru J. E. Berendt called Bowie's extended composition Gittin' To Know Y'All (parts I&II) "one of the most beautiful works of New-Jazz orchestral music that we know".

Line-Up: Karin Krog, The Baden-Baden Free Jazz Orchestra, The Terje Rypdal Group

Hans Koller Oktett & Wolfgang Dauner Trio - Jazz Studio - H.G.B.S. Number One //1962

On Jazz Studio, Koller heads an octet fronted by five saxophones. Four tightly arranged compositions explore the ins and outs of the mainstream. They include H.G. B. S.'s swinging, straight ahead Ganz Private, the cleverly arranged Racy, the sax showcase Five at a Time, and the bop-inflected Fips. Jazz Studio is also the first album in German keyboardist-composer Wolfgang Dauner's long, successful career. His various experiments fusing jazz, classical, rock and avant-garde elements catapulted him to the front of contemporary European jazz.

Line-Up: Darek Humble (Alto Saxophone), Helmut Reinhardt (Baritone Saxophone), Götz Wendland (Bass), Kurt Bong (Bongos), Sperie Karas (Drums), Hans Hammerschmid, Wolfgang Dauner (Piano), Hans Koller, Karl Drewo, Rudi Flierl (Tenor Saxophone), Hans Koller Oktett, Wolfgang Dauner Trio

Les Brown And His Band Of Renown - Today //1976
