MoonJune Records is a truly independent and one-man-operation boutique label (occasionally helped by a few good friends and collaborators - thanks John, Sasha, Eddie), and it's not my main activity. The recording music industry is not in a good shape, but the world is still full of ultra talented musicians from all the 16 corners of the globe. Despite all the difficulties and personal sacrifices and my very limited time (my main activities is booking, management, consulting and more; and I travel extensively all around the world), I am fully committed to continue to support the great new music of so-called moonjunistas. MoonJune Records functions as an extended musical family where all musicians are my friends, many for decades, and some are new friends, and the label's roster is truly International, with artists coming from a variety of countries and different ethnic/cultural backgrounds: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay, USA. Many of MoonJune artists, if their great music wasn't launched/distributed/promoted by my label, possibly would never be known outside of their countries. And in my humble opinion, extraordinary talents such as Dewa Budjana, Tohpati, Riza Arshad, Dennis Rea, Michel Delville, Beledo, Dani Rabin, Danny Markovitch, Boris Savodelli, Dwiki Dharmawan, Agam Hamzah, Tesla Manaf, Xavi Reija, Dusan Jevtovic, Jon Davis, Vasil Hadzimanov, Nelson Coelho, Susan Clynes, Antoine Guenet, Reza Ryan, Adi Wijaya, Pietro Santangelo, Chris Caldwell of Delta Saxophone Quartet, Yumi Hara, Adi Darmawan, Gusti Hendy, Demas Narawangsa, Endang Ramdan, Sasha Markovic, Kana Kamitsubo, Bernat Hernandez, Mahogany Frog, Barry Cleveland, Jason Smith, Clint Bahr, and others, fully deserve attention of fans from all around the world. And I am profoundly grateful to all of them, without moonjunistas, MoonJune wouldn't be possible. Of course, special mention goes to legends and veterans such as Elton Dean (RIP), Hugh Hopper (RIP), Allan Holdsworth, John Etheridge, John Marshall, Roy Babbington, Theo Travis, Beppe Crovella and Arti & Mestieri, Phil Miller, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter, Alex Maguire, and as well to many great and well known artists whose magic notes were used on various MoonJune recording sessions, such as Jimmy Haslip, Jimmy Johnson, Chad Wackerman, Gary Husband, Jack DeJohnette, Tim Garland, Guthrie Govan, Vinnie Colaiuta, Michael Landau, Antonio Sanchez, Joe Locke, Dave Liebman, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Jerry Goodman, Dave Carpenter (RIP), Larry Goldings, Ben Williams, Gilad Atzmon, Mark Hewins, Geoff Leigh, Tony Bianco, David Binney, Indra Lesmana, Paul Wertico, Steve Rodby, Janis Siegel, Benoit Moerlen, Howard Levy, Reggie Hamilton, Gordon Beck (RIP), Kirk Covington, Gary Willis, Steve Hunt, Alan Pasqua, Paolo Fresu, Marc Ribot, Furio Chirico, Elliott Sharp, Morgan Fisher, Richard Sinclair, Mark Fletcher, Freddy Baker, Dave Stewart, Simon Fintch, Annie Whitehead, Didier Malherbe, Doug Boyle, Hugo Fattoruso, Simon Picard, Hiram Bullock, Charles Heyward, Steve Franklin, Karl Jenkins, Mike Ratledge, Bireli Lagrene, Michael Gerber, Mike Stern, Felix Pastorius, Gil Goldstein, Kenwood Dennard, Markus Miller, John Patitucci, Alex Acuña, Carles Benavent, Charles Blenzig, Delmar Brown, Armando Marçal, Othello Molineaux, Jorge Pardo, Danny Gottlieb, Billy Hart, Phil Howard, Fabio Zuffanti, Robert Powell, Celso Alberti, Michael Manring, Amy X Neuberg, Erdem Helvaciouglu, Harry Manx, and others (the list is very impressive!).

MoonJune's main website will be soon re-designed, and linked directly to MoonJune's BandCamp where all the albums can be fully streamed (MoonJune supports the streaming controlled by artists and labels, but doesn't support Spotify and YouTube), as well to web pages of MoonJune Bookings and MoonJune Asia.

I wish You all Happy Holidays and the most wonderful 2017.

Yours in Music

FEW TESTIMONIES FROM MUSICIANS FEATURED ON MOONJUNE RECORDS

Leonardo Pavkovic is a discoverer of new sonic landscapes and an unusual out-of-box visionary manager capable of anticipating new developments in jazz and rock while maintaining his focus on the legacy of past revolutions. Because of his vision and erudition know no physical or mental boundaries, MoonJune might seem an oddity founded by a starry-eyed idealist, a rather utopian proposition in our increasingly prefab musical world, but to me, MoonJune is not just a record label pushing out alternative music. It feels more like a family of like-minded musicians keen to explore new grounds while collaborating with each other and engaging in a dialogue between the past and the present. Leonardo has succeeded in creating an environment for post-Canterbury, post-jazz-rock, post-everything artists to find and follow their own paths. As far as I am concerned, bands like douBt and Machine Mass simply would not have seen the light of day without his unflinching support. And it is largely thanks to his efforts that The Wrong Object's visibility has increased exponentially over the last decade. - MICHEL DELVILLE (The Wrong Object, Machine Mass, Doubt, Comicoperando)

Leonardo of MoonJune is what we would have to call serious music enthusiast. It's the only explanation for his continued and tireless dedication to the Music and Artists he looks after. His years of work with the incomparable Allan Holdsworth alone should put him on the shortlist for sainthood. He wholeheartedly and unselfishly represents music which would not be called "mainstream" but is of great and sometimes historical importance to musicians and fans of jazz, fusion, and prog. And Leonardo continues to do great work in our unique corner of the music business. Thanks for keeping this flame alive, Great Nardini!" - JIMMY JOHNSON (Dewa Budjana, Allan Holdsworth, James Taylor, Steve Gadd, Michael Landau)

In these days of immense difficulty brought on by the sudden, drastic devaluation of our art, it is, undoubtedly more than ever before, great to have gallant and determined ambassadors of music around - especially when they come in the form of fellows like sir Nardini, who's company, MoonJune, now celebrates it's 15th year championing, pioneering and relentlessly forwarding artists and their work. Here is a man who gets behind everything and everyone he believes in - whatever the hardship and unfeasibility he faces - with gusto, wisdom, integrity and with real heart. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been a part of a number of innovative, far-reaching and hugely significant projects he has brought about, and I look forward to every opportunity I hope to get in the future to do the same. His continual support and management of our mutual friend and genius Allan Holdsworth over many years has been monumental. He is a true visionary, a walking encyclopaedia of progressive music, and in addition to all of this, his constant energy and enthusiasm appear to be literally unceasing! Leonardo, thank you, congratulations and huge respect to you sir! You are a colossal inspiration to us all, and more than everything, a great friend and human being. - GARY HUSBAND (Beledo, Dewa Budjana, Jason Smith, Allan Holdsworth, Jack Bruce, John McLaughlin, Robin Trower, Level 42, Billy Cobham Spectrum)

MoonJune label has become associated with quality and innovation, ignoring the conservative jazz and prog critics who reject or downplay anything outside their own restricted genre biases, and looks to the place where musical innovations have historically always happened, in the genre-free mixing of influences. MoonJune’s owner Leonardo has a very deep understanding of music from a listening point of view, and that feeds into the label and his choice of the musicians he works with. He is a very supportive to his artists and full of creative and sometimes pivotal ideas for how each album he puts out can reach its potential. Leonardo’s intelligence and warmth make him an inspiring person to work with. - MARK WINGFIELD

It is very rare these days to come across someone like Leonardo Pavkovic who is both a genuine music lover and is so supportive of his artists in every way. Leonardo has a special ability to make connections between different musicians – often of different cultures and musical styles – and produce unique and new music. Leonardo’s label MoonJune Records has created over the last decade and a half such a variety of uncompromising artistic music. I feel lucky and blessed to be working with Leonardo, both on his label and on his booking roster, while looking forward to many future collaborations around the globe.
– ASAF SIRKIS (Mark WIngfield, Dwiki Dharmawan, Dusan Jevtovic, Tim Garland, Gilad Atzmon)

Leonardo Pavkovic of MoonJune holds a very special place in my and LIGRO's heart. His efforts have done so much to further the development of creative music in Indonesia. Approximately 10 years ago, when I first met Leonardo on one of his frequent visits to Jakarta, I was surprised and so delighted with his strong support for our music. I am in awe of his understanding and appreciation of the complexities of our music, which surpasses that of most musicians! I believe Leonardo's perspective on music has served to encourage and inspire musicians throughout Indonesia to create the music on a higher level. MoonJune Records has been great in its impact, helping to orchestrate so many positive changes for the benefit of the Indonesian progressive music scene and its artists. Being associated with Leonardo and MoonJune Records as a musician and as a friend, is a honor and a privilege. - AGAM HAMZAH (Ligro)

MoonJune is much more than a records label and a booking agency. It is a musical planet within our crazy world where great music is made and heard. Leonardo Pavkovic is the most incredible and passionate music lover I've ever met. His knowledge of music, musicians and beyond is huge. In our very difficult time when the music business almost doesn't exist, Leonardo manages to make so many things happen and doesn't give up on it. I am extremely happy to be part of the MoonJune planet and I wish Leonardo and MoonJune many more great years and success. - YARON STAVI (Mark WIngfield, Dwiki Dharmawan, David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Robert Wyatt, Gilad Atzmon, Nigel Kennedy, Richard Galliano, Asaf Sirkis)

Leonardo gave me the opportunity to release my work on MoonJune; now, six releases into the best label relationship a musician could ever wish for, awareness of my work has increased exponentially, as have the many deeply satisfying performance opportunities that have come my way as a result, from Siberia to Mexico. Equally important, my association with MoonJune has brought me into an extended family of mutually supportive kindred spirits, from the remarkable roster of nonpareil MoonJunista musicians from all over the globe, to the uncommonly attuned listeners who give our work its raison d’etre. Like its namesake orb, MoonJune steadily casts its light across a commercially ravaged musical landscape without ever capitulating to ‘the market, ’ a rare paragon of musical virtue in ever more culturally bankrupt times. Boundless thanks to Leonardo for his belief in me and the other members of MoonJune’s singular tribe, and for bringing nourishing musical sustenance to fearless listeners worldwide – long may the Moon shine! - DENNIS REA (Moraine, Zhongyu, Iron Kim Style, Dennis Rea)

When it comes to prog-rock, jazz-rock, modern jazz, just to name a couple of the challenging and creative modern styles of music, Leonardo Pavkovic of MoonJune must be the most knowledgeable person I know, there are no bands or musicians from every little corner of the earth that he can't tell you some transcendental story about them. At the beginning I thought that I had a great affinity with him because he not only knew all, .and I mean all of my heroes but he also was working closely with them in one way or another. Later I understood that my world was just a tiny little part of the whole picture and that his list of heroes was way bigger than mine. Luckily I've been learning a lot from wonderful musicians from all over the world thanks to Leonardo. Nowadays In the music business well respected managers and producers are the ones that have the eagle eye for the talent that will bring the big bucks and that is OK, but Leonardo is way more ambitious than that, he is trying to find the music from beyond the conventional that is aimed more to nurture your soul and satisfy your artistic persona. I am extremely fortunate to be working with him, the process of producing my album Dreamland Mechanism started with a commitment to make an absolutly satisfying work, and that was exactly what happened, and it would not have happen if he was not involved with it with the constant flow of positive ideas and criteria often unconventional for a regular producer. I want to thank Leonardo for being one of my best friends and for hearing more than mere influences on my music, that really takes real objectivity and not only the projection of your own experiences, and coming from Leonardo it means a great deal because Marco Polo only wishes he could have gone to all of the places Leonardo has been all around the face of this beautiful Planet Earth. - BELEDO (The Avengers, Ruben Rada, Miguel Cantilo, Manolo Badrena, Pedro Aznar, Hugo Fattoruso, Opa, Dias de Blues)
