Nathan East Releases Star-Studded Cover of "Serpentine Fire"

Bass legend Nathan East has released a cinematic cover of "Serpentine Fire" via Stereogum.

The track was originally recorded with Nathan's brother Marcel in 1991 with Eric Clapton on guitar and Phil Collins on drums. Moogie, Nathan's longtime engineer, who mixed the original version of the Earth, Wind & Fire cover, discovered the track 25 years later, and after a long search for the tapes, finally uncovered them in Patti Austin's basement. After the tape was digitally remastered, the three Earth, Wind & Fire members sang (Philip Bailey), played additional bass parts (Verdine White), and added percussion (Ralph Johnson) to the track, resulting in a daring, head-turning journey.

Nathan's debut single "Lifecycle" hit #1 on Billboard's Smooth Jazz Songs charts. 'Reverence, ' his forthcoming album is set for release on January 20, 2017 via Yamaha Entertainment Group.

He will be hitting the road with Eric Clapton in 2017 playing Madison Square Garden in New York City and The Forum in Los Angeles.
