Preregistration for Jazz Connect Conference ends on December 15

The Jazz Connect Conference, organized by JazzTimes and the Jazz Forward Coalition, will be held January 5-6, 2017 at Saint Peter's Church in New York City and will lead into the annual APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) Conference as well as Winter Jazzfest. Now in its fifth year, the conference will continue to focus on vital issues affecting the jazz community, with a theme of "The Family of Jazz." Pre-Registration is only $145.00 until December 15, with additional discounts offered to members of various organizations, such as APAP, JJA, JazzWeek, SESAC, ASCAP, AFM Local 802, NARAS and CMA.

The conference offers a robust diversity of panel and workshop topics including: social media from the artist's perspective; sonic branding; a fresh look at how music is bought, sold and consumed; innovative booking & touring strategies; streaming and downloading issues; direct-to-fan for income maximization; spotlight and showcase on jazz in Israel; community engagement for presenting jazz; and much more. The lineup of moderators, panelists and speakers will include an impressive cross-section of artists and professionals from around the world. In addition, the Conference has left a time slot open for a "Community Choice" panel. If you have a topic that you think would be interesting to the jazz community, email it to jazzconnectnyc@gmail.com and put "Community Choice" in the subject line.

The always popular Ask the Experts session returns to offer registrants the opportunity to meet face-to-face with influential and experienced industry leaders for helpful professional counsel. Conducted speed-dating style, this session enables jazz artists and professionals to share ideas and resources and also get informed feedback on their own work. Registrants can sign up for 10-minute meetings in the following areas: Recording & Product Management; Performance & Touring; Publicity, Promotion & Airplay; Marketing & Social Media; DIY Management.

The exhibit area returns with a limited number of table-top displays in the foyer of the church throughout the conference. To reserve a table-top display or to advertise in the Conference program with JazzTimes, contact Michelle Elchaak at 617-706-9080 or melchaak@madavor.com.
