After over 13 years, the Munich jazz label Pirouet Records is taking a pause

After over 13 years, the Munich jazz label Pirouet Records is taking a pause. The jazz catalogue, comprising 98 distinctive musical productions, will continue to be commercially available and distributed via NRW distribution company and Believe Digital. The last two albums, Ronny Graupe – The White Belt (released Nov. 4) and Frank Kimbrough – Solstice (released Nov. 25) are the closing acts in the current catalogue.

Pirouet owner Ralph Bürklin: "It began with fantastic pianists and thus it's fitting that we come full circle with an exceptional pianist. In these 13 years we have produced jazz milestones from Marc Copland, Bill Stewart, Kenny Werner, Larry Goldings and Bill Carrothers and supported such young artists as Pablo Held, Jochen Rueckert, Joris Roelofs and Kathrin Pechlof. For those jazz lovers who still haven't bought that particular CD they've been wanting, or wish to complete their collection, the entire catalogue will continue to be available."

The label looks back at the numerous releases that have been lauded and treasured by jazz fans and critics alike. Since 2003, Artistic director, sound engineer, producer and saxophonist Jason Seizer and managing director Ralph Bürklin have been responsible for Pirouet's artistic direction, a direction that has resulted in the release of the albums of many internationally renowned jazz musicians as well as some of the best jazz musicians on the national scene. The label's aim has been to place young unknown artists next to well-known musicians, presenting them in exciting constellations.

To date Pirouet Records has brought out 98 releases under the highest technical sound standards. The label will continue to be available and distributed physically by NRW and non-physically by Believe Digital.
