Blue Note Jazz Festival Presents Svetlana & The Delancey Five W/ Wycliffe Gordon

"Get ready to swing and be moved" (Jazzlives) when the "extraordinary singer and songwriter" (Will Friedwald, Wall Street Journal) Svetlana Shmulyian leads her band Svetlana & The Delancey Five featuring a special guest, extraordinary trombonist, vocalist and composer, Wycliffe Gordon, in the show dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong Verve records. The program will feature original arrangements of standards from the famous Ella / Louis Verve recordings (1956/57) as well as band's own signature compositions and arrangements from their debut record, Night at the Speakeasy - performed by the Svetlana & Wycliffe and backed by the Svetlana & The Delancey Five band giving "their own flavoring to songs [associated] with Louis and Ella" (JazzLives blog) and evoking the spirit of "Ella and Louis collaboration albums" (Musical Memoirs blog). Whether you're a jazz aficionado or a lover of all things New York, prepare to be engaged in Svetlana's "unique brand of toe-tapping smile-infused swing [that] has more than enough charm and youthful energy to shake you out of your [post] winter blues!" (Broadway World)

SVETLANA & THE DELANCEY FIVE
Take an exhilarating "energetic" (Wall Street Journal) "doze of jazz vocals" (Time Out), and "shining" instrumentals (Wall Street Journal), and a dash of yesteryear, then mix in a whole lot of musical dexterity and charm - and you have one of New York's most beloved in-demand swing bands, Svetlana & the Delancey Five, delivering the special New York brand of swing and "making hot jazz sound cool" (BlueMonkMoods). Lead by "outstanding singer and songwriter" (Will Friedwald) Svetlana whose "delightful" (WRHU) "vocals sparkle" (blogcritics.com), the band has performed on stages ranging from the premier jazz clubs (Blue Note, BBKings, Joe's Pub, Iridium, Zinc Bar) to the authentic New York secret speakeasies.

WYCLIFFE GORDON
