Rob Baird's Cathartic, Blues-Battered 'Wrong Side Of The River'

After a four year hiatus from music, Memphis-born musician Rob Baird releases his "thematic journey from defiance to reflection to the hope for redemption" (NPR) on the 10-track 'Wrong Side Of The River' autobiographical LP, out today (5.13) via Hard Luck Recording Company.

Baird's journey ranges from soul-searching ballads to "honest rockers" (Texas Monthly) and takes the listener through songs spanning a blues-drenched, Jack White-influenced title track to an organ-aided Jackson Browne-styled rocker "Mercy Me;" from a sentimental "Run of Good Luck" ballad to the cannon-shot stomper "Ain't Nobody Got A Hold On Me."

To accompany the sonic quest, Baird also created a "stunning" (NPR) cinematic trilogy video with director Matt Bizer (Willie Nelson, Old Crow Medicine Show). It premiered last week on NPR First Watch and features three tracks from the record:

"The journey to produce this record has been a long one both literally and figuratively, " Baird says. "Each mile I've travelled and each moment in between went directly into my songs. The result is something I believe in, something I am proud of, and something to which I think each and every one of you can relate. I hope that my life through these songs resonates with you."

The "cathartic" (Rolling Stone Country) songwriter has full-band shows and festival performances slated through the summer. For more on Rob, including a list of tour dates, please visit
