EARLY REVIEWS
Mac Gollehon & The Hispanic Mechanics", a fusion of EDM and Salsa, making for a unique and dramatic genre of musical energy, unlike any that I have heard thus far.
-Huffington Post

A cryptically electronic, drum and horn-laden party starter.
-MANsion Mens Magazine

Mac has a distinctive growl and airiness to many of his longer notes, a moniker if you like, which gives his a distinctive sound. There is also a distinctive Davis quality about his high notes – you can tell his excellent schooling and yet he is also supremely original in his approach.
-JazzinEurope

A sultry Salsa flavour, whilst blending jazzy components along the way... exemplifies this experimental fusion more than ever. It's bright, colourful and trippy beyond belief – imagine Ray Barretto and Miles Davis teamed up with Massive Attack for a jam after an all-nighter.

Mac Gollehon and the Hispanic Mechanics. Bright, blaring, buoyant, emotionally cathartic, ensemble establishes a stellar set of cross currents in what seems as astonishingly rapid conversations, calls and responses, points and counter points of percussion, piano, horns and a steadfast chorus of singers chiming through the dancing propulsive.

These producers combined Mac's outstanding abilities with prodigious powerhouse acts. The result was important and memorable and often the result was truly groundbreaking.

This recording marks the course for a new era for Gollehon, digging into the many years of touring and recording with such luminary names as David Bowie (Let's Dance, Changes Bowie, Sound+Vision, ), Duran Duran (Seven and the Ragged Tiger.., Original Gold, Big Thing, Notorious), Grace Jones (Inside Story), Chic (Dance, Dance, Dance, Live at Budokan, In Japan, Chic-ism), Blondie, Rick James, Mick Jagger, Power Station (Some like it Hot)– in truth Gollehon can be heard on over 100 gold and platinum and double platinum records. But it isn't just the pop and jazz side of Gollehon's experience that lends itself to this project it is also the heavy hitting historically important Latin artists Gollehon has shared the stage with such as: Hilton Ruiz, Larry Harlow, Nicky Marrero, Potato Valdez, Frankie Ruiz, Sonara Mantancero and Charlie Palmieri, who have left their mark in Latin genres. In addition he recorded and arranged for Soca giants Mighty Sparrow and Arrow, the legendary arrangement of Hot Hot Hot .The combination of these genres married together and the years in the trenches and on the bandstand for Gollehon have created a uniquely fresh and innovative sound that offers a dramatic musical energy relevant to today's music market.

In the studio Mac was recording with Rock, Pop, and Salsa legends on a daily basis and working on TV commercials. The sonic landscapes of his work were so diverse that he developed his own unique style.

One player's sound Gollehon was particularly drawn to was that of the late Lester Bowie, whose group, Brass Fantasy, Mac was a member of for 9 years. Bowie inspired, encouraged and participated in Mac becoming a leader. As a result, Gollehon's unique mix of jazz, blues and funk was very well received and critically acclaimed, both on recordings and in live settings.
