Bob McChesney Available Now On Amazon & iTunes

To begin, here are some quotes from Bob McChesney's website: ". . . probably the best jazz trombone playing I've heard to date." – Eddie Daniels "Bob McChesney is a virtuoso and has the gift to bring us the joy of music at the highest level." – Lalo Schifrin "Bob McChesney is a master of the trombone."
– Arturo Sandoval

McChesney is a badass . . . what a great CD! [CHEZ SEZ] demonstrates the current evolution of jazz playing. Thanks for the inspiration."
- Jerry Bergonzi

ITA Review : After listening through this new CD one would be hard pressed to disagree with any of those quotes. This project, like many in this genre, started with a friendly collaboration between friends – in this case between Bob McChesney and pianist Larry Goldings – and we jazz fans are the fortunate recipients of a wonderful, cleanly recorded collection of new tunes and standards in a variety of styles. From the opening bars of You May Have It Wrong, the listener gets the comfortable feeling of being in the competent hands of a professional group of musicians led by the velvet-toned jazz trombone sound of Bob McChesney. The ballad Yesterdays is a sonic treat of relaxed nostalgia set up by McChesney's expressive and heartfelt opening cadenza. Pianist Larry Goldings is at the top of his jazz game throughout, whether tastefully comping on piano or Hammond B3 for McChesney and tenor saxophone soloist Bob Mintzer, or soloing himself throughout this aural adventure. If there is a singular highlight on this CD it would be the self-referenced Chez Sez. Recorded without the benefit of the piano for harmonic support, bassist Darek Oles and drummer Bill Stewart carry the two jazz voices on a cresting wave of jazz energy. Stewart is rewarded with a tasty drum solo that is not overstated as so many often seem to be. As a bonus the inside CD cover has a note for note transcription of McChesney's amazing improvised solo on Chez Sez. This CD has a great mix of swing, bebop, and ballads. Closing with Love for Sale tops off a great listening experience. Check out this superb recording of jazz pros led by one of the trombone icons of our time, Bob McChesney.
