Chick Corea, Angelique Kidjo, Kamasi Washington & More Head to Newport Jazz Fest

Surprise someone with the Gift of Jazz - an unforgettable trip to the 2016 Newport Jazz Festival . To help with the surprise, the Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc. is offering flexible (Flex) tickets priced at just $59 for the holiday season.

The Gift of Jazz comes with the music of Chick Corea, Angelique Kidjo, Kamasi Washington and Tierney Sutton as well as George Wein/Doris Duke Artistic Programming Fund commissions from Peter Apfelbaum & Sparkler, Tyshawn Sorey & Alloy, Sullivan Fortner Quartet and Ben Williams & Sound Effect plus many more of the best established and emerging artists who will take the stage July 29-31 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino.

The $59 Flex tickets can be used for General Admission to concerts at Fort Adams State Park on any day of the festival, so there is no need to decide now which day to attend. Regularly priced adult tickets will be $45 for Friday and $79-89 for Saturday and Sunday; therefore, it's best to use adult Flex tickets for Saturday and Sunday to get the savings. Flex tickets can be purchased on-line at www.newportjazzfest.org and in person at the Newport Visitors Information Center, 23 America's Cup Avenue (www.discovernewport.org). Service charges apply with on-line purchases. This offer is not valid on reserved seats or for the Friday evening concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

"We're excited to begin rolling out the festival lineup in advance and giving our long-time and new friends the opportunity to watch the schedule unfold, " said George Wein, Festival Producer and Chairman of the Newport Festivals Foundation. "We're off to a great start with Chick Corea's 75th birthday celebration, Tierney Sutton's Joni Mitchell Project, debut commissions by Peter Apfelbaum, Tyshawn Sorey, Sullivan Fortner and Ben Williams as well as the much-anticipated Kamasi Washington. This is just a tip of the iceberg."

Wein will announce additions to the festival lineup via his blog, The Wein Machine, through January 21 when all tickets go on sale. Jazz fans are also encouraged to follow the Newport Jazz Festival and Newport Festivals Foundation on social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and tumblr.
