Joachim Kühn - Cinemascope
Pianist-composer Joachim Kühn has been a force on the international jazz scene for half a century. Trained as a classical pianist, Kühn migrated to jazz, playing fusion with Alphonse Mouzon, free jazz with Ornette Coleman, and modern jazz in his iconic group with bassist JF Jenny-Clarke and drummer Daniel Humair. Here he teams up with acclaimed German electric guitarist Toto Blanke, the eclectic Afro-American bassist John Lee, and Lee's long-time playing partner, drummer Gerry Brown (Stevie Wonder, Marcus Miller, Chick Corea, etc.).

Joachim Kühn - This Way Out
Joachim Kühn is joined by Daniel Humair, one of Europe's most celebrated drummers, along with bassist/cellist Peter Warren, whose play has graced the albums of such diverse greats as Clarla Bley and John Scofield. The impressionistic miniature Brother Rolph serves as an introduction, the up-tempo Byg Bridge spans over to the helter-skelter of Amok, while the well-named ballad She's a Beauty precedes the straight-ahead swing of Spaced In. Kühn tenders a personal solo-rendering of the classic Body And Soul, then switches to alto sax on the harsh, ritualistic Phallic Dance.

Art van Damme - Squeezing Art & Tender Flutes
Another feel-good album from one of the MPS favorites; this constitutes the 11th iTunes release of the 16 albums accordionist Art Van Damme recorded for MPS – Art has a wide audience, and it's because the man is a joy to listen to. The album is graced by arrangements that include four flutes, a stellar rhythm section featuring internationally renowned guitarist Sigi Schwab, world music pioneer Serbian drummer Lala Kovacec, and Van Damme's to-the-point virtuoso play. The 12 pieces include compositions by Mancini, Irving Berlin, Gershwin, and George Shearing. Music to sit back and enjoy anytime of the day or night. For more info on Van Damme check out the synopsis of the man and his music on the 10-album iTunes release from April, 2015.
