SCULLER'S JAZZ CLUB
On Friday October 23rd it's on to Boston's premier venue, Sculler's Jazz Club.
This show will be broadcast live on WGBH-FM Boston's "Live From Sculler's" series, hosted by jazz personality Eric Jackson.

The band will be playing the music from the recently released album "Imaginary World" (Savant Records). Produced by Rachel Faro and Ray Chew, the recording offers a sophisticated blend of Latin jazz, world rhythms and and amazing arrangements. This highly regarded album has already spent over 14 weeks on the national Jazz Week Chart, including three weeks in the Top Ten.

From the rocking "Bittersweet", the breathtakingly beautiful "He Didn't Know", the flowing hypnotic "Mysterious Energy" and the bright perkiness of "Jumping Blue Jay", which features Brazil's illustrious guitarist Chico Pinheiro, what makes this music special is how a Latin jazz group combines sophisticated melodies and innovative arrangements with the excitement of complex Latin rhythms. Sammy stretches out and plays multiple percussion instruments besides, including the African 'udo' drum.

"Imaginary World" has a big sound, with modern electronic touches, but what comes across the most is the sense of swing and joy that the players are experiencing. Anyone who has seen this band live will tell you that they are phenomenal. With the music of "Imaginary World" they've taken it to a new level. Don't miss these very special performances.

"Sammy Figueroa advances a bright ideal for Latin jazz." New York Times
