| The George Gee Swing Orchestra Swings Back into SWING46 Times Square's SWING46 Jazz & Supper Club has been hosting The George Gee Swing Orchestra since the club's 1997 inception. SWING46 is the world's only full-time Big Band swing nightclub, with dancing nightly. However, during the past four months, the dancing stopped and the bandstand went quiet as the West 46th St. / Restaurant Row mainstay underwent a renovation and refreshening. But dancers and music lovers, rejoice! The wait is nearly over! The grand re-opening for SWING46 has been set for October. The new and improved supper club will welcome musicians and fans, starting with house favorite George Gee, NYC native and torchbearer of the classic Big Band sound. George Gee (once mentored by the legendary Count Basie himself!) and his 10-member ensemble will return to their standing gig every Tuesday evening. This is one of NYC's longest-running Off-Broadway musicals: 2015 is their 18th straight year! Plus, look for bonus dates for George and the band on Fridays through October. The George Gee Swing Orchestra features vocalists Hilary Gardner and John Dokes, and often presents dance performances by professional troupes. (Look for Gaby Galore and Her Sugar Shakers, Tuesdays in October!) Tuesday night admission to Swing46 always includes a complimentary swing dance lesson. The club offers an extensive fine-dining menu, full bar and the best dance floor in Midtown Manhattan, right off the famed Crossroads of the World! The George Gee Swing Orchestra has recently released "Swing Make You Happy" on the Rondette Jazz label to wide acclaim. This recording enjoyed extensive jazz radio airplay and a lofty three-month perch on the Jazz Charts, peaking at #16.
