Vocalist, Jackie Jones possesses the poise and talent to carry the torch of the jazz legacy to new vistas. This song stylist brings renewed vitality and energy to a grand tradition of musical innovation and virtuosity.

THE LEWIS PORTER QUARTET, led by Rutgers-Newark music professor Porter, is made up of four distinguished jazz professionals:

Pianist Lewis Porter, Ph.D., has long been known as a jazz educator at Rutgers at Newark, and as the author of articles and books, including a celebrated volume on John Coltrane. He maintains a very active career as a performer, and as a composer of jazz and classical works. He has performed or recorded across the USA and Europe with Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Gary Bartz, Wycliffe Gordon, Ravi Coltrane, Marc Ribot, and many others. In addition to teaching seminars at Rutgers, he teaches private students worldwide by Skype. His latest album as a leader, on Unseen Rain Records, is Trio-Solo, a download on iTunes, Amazon, etc. He appears on more than a dozen other albums including the Ornette Coleman tribute Free! With Chris Kelsey. He received a Grammy nomination in 1995. .

Saxophonist Abraham Burton, of Belizean decent, grew up in the lively streets of Greenwich Village, New York City. He apprenticed with legendary jazz great Jackie McLean, and at the age of 18, his professional career was initiated with renowned drummer Arthur Taylor. In the years to come Mr. Burton would perform and record with jazz greats such as Roy Haynes, Louis Hayes, Jimmy Smith, Walter Bishop Jr., Ray Drummond, Rashied Ali, Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Barron, Billy Hart, Santi Debriano, Horace Tapscott, David Murray, The Mingus Big Band, and Christian McBride. Since 1994 Abraham has also been active with his own Abraham Burton Quartet, a fiercely dynamic group that has been featured throughout Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

Bassist Joris Teepe grew up in The Netherlands. Arriving in New York in 1992 with just his bass and a suitcase, he quickly became in demand and a year later he recorded his first CD with Don Braden, Cyrus Chestnut, Carl Allen and Tom Harrell. He has been working with the great legends in jazz from Benny Golson to Sonny Fortune to Rashied Ali. Joris also established himself as a bandleader (12 CD's, including his own Big Band with only original music), composer (including 3 symphonies), record producer and educator (director of Jazz Studies in Groningen, bass teacher at Queens College NY).

Drummer Marcus Baylor, a St. Louis native, was widely recognized as the drummer for ten years of the 2-time Grammy Award winning jazz quartet, the Yellowjackets. While studying and graduating from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he performed and recorded with musical icons Cassandra Wilson, David Sanborn, John Scofield, and Kenny Garrett. Marcus has recently come into his own as a composer, arranger, producer and bandleader with The Baylor Project, his musical offering with his wife, singer Jean Baylor. With his natural feel, creative use of space and innovative ability to tell a story, his musicianship and improvisation are those of a seasoned musician.
