The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival Aug. 27-30

The 6th Annual Hudson Valley Jazz Festival takes place August 27-30. The festival features new venues, artists, and two Grammy Award winners, including festival headliner Wallace Roney.
With performances in Peekskill, Chester, Pine Island, Sugar Loaf, New Paltz, Kingston as well as home-base Warwick, new venues include Christopher's Bistro, Rogowski Farms, Gomen-Kudasai, and Blooming Grove Farms.

This year's substantial roster of premiering artists includes such local talents as Russ Kassoff, Harvey Kaiser, Pete Levin, Chris Pasin, Teri Roiger, Jeremy Baum, the Bobatoon Collective, Metropolitan Hot Club, Mark Hagan, Hang 'em High and Jeff Siegal.

The headline show on Sunday August 30 features three-time Grammy winner/Miles Davis protoge trumpeter Wallace Roney and his quintet.

Newburgh resident saxophonist Eric Person is Roney's top pick to join him onstage with his crack band. Roney's performance at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center is made possible by Advisors Capital Management.
The Bean Runner Cafe in Peekskill presents several shows including renowned artist Winard Harper.

The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce once again hosts Jazz & Art in the Park with Neil Alexander & Nail. Pennings, Orange County Land Trust, Seligmann Center, Iron Forge Inn, the Village of Warwick Summer Concert Series and Warwick's Landmark Inn, all returning venues.

The Village of Warwick Concert Series hosts the Jason Miles/Ingrid Jensen "Kind of New" project. Trumpeter Jensen teams up with Grammy Award winner Jason Miles former synth programmer for Miles Davis, on Saturday August 29. In addition, the Jeff Ciampa Latin Ensemble with Lincoln Goines and Joel Rosenblatt will be at the Landmark Inn opening night, Thursday August 27.
Warwick resident and international musician James Emery, is a welcome return to this year's Jazz Festival.
