Keb’ Mo’ Awarded Contemporary Blues Album Award At 36th Annual Blues Music Awards

Singer, songwriter, guitarist and modern day blues and americana artist, Keb' Mo' was awarded the Contemporary Blues Album award at the 36th annual Blues Music Awards for his current album, BLUESAmericana. The awards, which are presented by The Blues Foundation, took place in Memphis on Thursday, May 7 at Memphis' Cook Convention Center.The Blues Music Awards are universally recognized as the highest accolade afforded blues music performers. The annual awards ceremony is the premier event for blues professionals, musicians, and fans from all over the world. The award marks the eleventh honor Keb' Mo' has received from the Blues Foundation. Keb' Mo's 12th studio album, BLUESAmericana, was released on Kind of Blue Music on April 22, 2014. Following its release, the album topped the Soundscan Blues Album chart and spent multiple weeks in the #1 position. BLUESAmericana became one of the top-selling blues albums of 2014 and garnered three 2015 Grammy Award nominations.

Recorded in Nashville, and produced by Keb' Mo' and Casey Wasner, the album features ten tracks, nine of which were co-written by Keb', and has been described as having a mix of personal, raw honesty blended with folksy, upbeat roots rock-type material that is distinctly Keb' Mo'. Due to its popularity, the album was later released on vinyl.

Keb' was featured on the Playing For Change album: Playing for Change 3: Songs Around the World, which was released in 2014 and features over 180 musicians from 31 countries, including Keith Richards, Sara Bareilles, David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas, Taj Mahal and many others. Keb' Mo' donated 5% of BLUESAmericana sales proceeds to the foundation.
