Dedicated to developing and presenting new music for big band since 1997, the CBB has featured over 100 guest composers and performers, some who have come as far away as Ireland, England and Japan. The music ranges from straight ahead, contemporary, Latin, Indian ragas, funk, blues, experimental and everything in between. Various projects have included poets, actors, rappers, spoken word, film, dancers, electronics, Soundpainting and a jazz opera. They've also celebrated the pioneering big band composers of the past including;Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, Jaki Byard and George Russell.

…big band lives…barroom or church, it's all the same to this band of musical trail-blazers. Most amazing are the crowds that are flocking to hear [this] new music- a pivotal point if jazz is to survive and grow
– Jim Beckerman – Bergen Record New Jersey

Big, swinging, and Mingus-esque!
