Friday March 13
Oz Noy Trio 8:00

Featuring Anton Fig & Will Lee of the David Letterman Band

Oz Noy "It's Jazz. It just doesn't sound like it." This is how virtuoso guitarist Oz Noy describes his intoxicating blend of jazz, funk, rock, blues, and r&b. Oz was a member of the house band on a top-rated television show in his native Israel for more than two years. The impact of Oz's unique, intoxicating style has broken the rules of instrumental guitar by focusing on the groove. All-stars such as Keith Carlock, Anton Fig, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckl often contribute on drums, with bassists Will Lee, James Genus, and Reggie Washington. Oz won the highly acclaimed Guitar Player magazine readers poll for "best guitar riff on a record" in 2007. In 2008, Oz won the Guitar Player's "best new talent." Noy has performed, toured and recorded with Chris Botti, Harry Belafonte, Cyndi Lauper, Clay Aiken, Toni Braxton, Phoebe Snow, Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Dave Weckl, Mike Manieri, The East Village Opera Company, Roger Glover, Bill Evans, Warren Hayes, Gove't Mule, and Allen Toussaint, among others.

Anton Fig

Anton is presently a member of the "CBS Orchestra" appearing nightly on 'Late Show with David Letterman' - a position he has held since 1986. During this tenure he has played with scores of great artists including Miles Davis, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Winwood, Bonnie Raitt and Tony Bennett.

Will Lee
Grammy Award-winning Will Lee can be seen every week night across the US playing at the Ed Sullivan Theatre as the bassist with Paul Shaffer and the "CBS Orchestra" on the wildly popular "Late Show with David Letterman" and you can hear him playing, singing and speaking on many commercials on both television and radio.

Wednesday March 18
Aruán Ortiz Trio with Eric Revis & Gerald Cleaver

Cuban pianist and composer Aruán Ortiz -"one of the best new pianists to come to New York in recent memory" has collaborated with the most creative, forward-thinking jazz musicians today. Presenting forms of Afro-Cuban folklore into jazz improvisation, the trio takes "abstract jazz to another level ".

Aruán Ortiz

Arriving in New York City in 2008, Ortiz has enjoyed a career playing with Esperanza Spalding, Andrew Cyrille, Rufus Reid and Don Byron, among others, as well as composing, teaching, and leading his superb ensembles. Drawing inspiration from the impressionist colors of Maurice Ravel, the spiky rhythms of Thelonious Monk, or ceremonial beats of Afro-Cuban folklore, Ortiz's sophisticated sound surges with free-flowing improvisation. He is recipient of the 2014 Doris Duke Impact Award.

Eric Revis

One of the most talented and accomplished musicians of his generation, Grammy Award-winning bassist and composer Eric Revis has developed a personal and distinctive style. Revis is comfortable in any setting. Branford Marsalis states, "Eric's sound is the sound of doom; big, thick, percussive." Scores of musicians agree. Revis has performed and recorded with Betty Carter, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lionel Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Andrew Cyrille, and Tarbaby.

Gerald Cleaver

Cleaver has performed or recorded with Joe Morris, Mat Maneri, Roscoe Mitchell, Miroslav Vitous, Michael Formanek, Tomasz Stanko, and others. Under the name Veil of Names, Cleaver released an album called Adjust on the Fresh Sounds New Talent label in 2001. It featured Maneri, Ben Monder, Andrew Bishop, Craig Taborn and Reid Anderson and was a Best Debut Recording Nominee by the Jazz Journalists Association. Cleaver currently leads the groups Uncle June, Black Host, Violet Hour.

"...the erudite Ortiz has smashed every preconception of Latin pianists and his penchant for innovative expression succeeds in surpassing the output of his musical contemporaries." - AllAboutJazz

"...the calling card of a group of inventive, daring souls who are unbound by musical boundaries and will push them to their limit." - New York City Jazz Record
